Know the signs of human trafficking…
An individual appears fearful or submissive.
An individual does not have personal identification documents.
An individual’s speech seems rehearsed or scripted, or they frequently defer to someone to speak for them.
An individual’s money/finances are managed by someone else.
An individual has “branding” tattoos; tattoos of names, barcodes, money, or phrases such as “property of __”
These are not definitive signs of trafficking and one sign alone doesn’t mean trafficking, but recognizing the patterns is essential for prevention.
